Imperial College’s Geraldine Butler-Wright joins Yoyo as head of people and talent
Yoyo has appointed Imperial College’s head of recruitment, Geraldine Butler-Wright, to head up people and talent for Europe’s fastest growing combined payments and loyalty marketing platform.
Geraldine, who has more than 15 years’ recruitment and HR experience, was previously head of recruitment and talent at Imperial College, London, where she lead executive and specialist search and progression.
She also delivered a number of transformation initiatives for Imperial, including the creation of an employer brand, delivery of a direct sourcing and operational excellence recruitment model for its staff of 8,000, as well as the gamification of the hiring process.
Imperial College was also the first university to adopt the Yoyo platform, when the company launched in 2014.
Prior to Imperial, Geraldine worked at PayPal, where she delivered strategic hires across EMEA as senior talent acquisition partner. She has also worked for global organisations, including the US Government.
In her new role at Yoyo, Geraldine will shape and deliver an innovative people function to attract, develop and retain exceptional talent that will support Yoyo as it continues to grow.
She will report to Yoyo CEO Michael Rolph.
Michael said: “It’s great to have someone of Geraldine’s vast experience on board. Her appointment comes at a time when Yoyo further accelerates its expansion across the UK, Europe and beyond.
“In the past year, Yoyo has closed a £12 Series B, gained over 800,000 users, passed 2 million monthly app transactions, created the award-winning payments and loyalty app for Caffe Nero, and gone into a totally unique partnership with challenger bank Starling.
“Such rapid expansion requires Yoyo to attract the best talent and importantly further support the amazing team we have already. Having someone of Geraldine’s experience on board is going to help us achieve this – especially as we continue to work on some pretty incredible and unique partnership deals.”
Geraldine added: “I am thrilled to join Yoyo at such an exciting time. A great adventure lies ahead for us. We have a strong employer value proposition to share and leverage in securing, growing and retaining world class talent.”
